Trail Ramblings: The Plan Continues To Take Shape

I know I’ve been posting a lot about this lately, but it’s big news in the cycling community and we need to keep abreast of it and add comments to the process. Last Wednesday the public was able to see the latest route recommendations for the long awaited MoPac trail gap between Wabash and the Platte River Bridge. For the latest version of the project, read the article from the Nebraska Examiner. If you haven’t commented on routes yet, you have until October 11 to fill out the comment form. A hybrid of two proposed routes has emerged as a possibility. The biggest stumbling block to the shortest, least expensive, and most scenic route seems to be how and whether the farm traffic from one or two farms could or should share the trail. The hybrid route resolves some of the problems. Read the article to understand it better. AND see the coverage from Channel 10/11 now talking about the Great American Rail Trail and board Member Derek Augustine here!
