Rest in peace, Randy Gibson

Photo of Randy Gibson

On Saturday, September 23, Randy Gibson was killed by a motorist, who was driving while under the influence. At the time of the crash, Randy was en route to meet his wife, Christy, who was waiting on the Homestead Trail to ride together back to Lincoln. Randy was a dedicated father, husband, and passionate cycling advocate. His kindness, quick genuine smiles, and friendly waves as he pedaled past will be sorely missed. He leaves a […]

Rambling Different Trails: A Death In The Cycling Family.

It’s been a terrible week for Lincoln’s cycling community. It saw broken bones and death, as well as at least two more “accidents,” one hurt badly, involving motorists and cyclists. Rambling Different Trails: It’s Time To Mask Up.

Last Monday’s beautiful ride through the countryside had the unfortunate consequence of knocking me down for most of the week due to the lack of a mask. Rambling Different Trails: Getting Lost And Getting Flats, Just Like Before.

I’ve managed a few rides around the rain this week. Some roads are improved, I’m happy to see, while others are not. With so much traffic I’m sure it’s hard to keep up. You have to watch those water-filled pot holes. I rode into one in low light and I’m lucky it wasn’t deeper than it was. That wasn’t the cause of any of my three flats, though. I still haven’t figured out what’s causing […]

Rambling Different Trails: Waiting For The Skies To Clear

I thought by this time I’d have been out to re-visit some of my favorite bike haunts. My plans have been thwarted by the fact that it’s been raining every day and I know better than to ride any dirt levee roads when it’s like this. The hard surface roads can be a mess too, so I got some long overdue fenders yesterday. At least between rains we’ve gotten to see how progress on the […]
