Trail Ramblings: Are We Winded Yet?
If you were out enjoying the warm temperatures this weekend on your bikes, you know what I’m talking about. Today saw wind speeds in the 20s with gusts of nearly 40 mph, and yesterday was not far behind. I know because I was riding in it, looking forward to changing direction and not having a headwind anymore, but the wind shifted so I got to ride into it from two directions. Today was worse, the […]

Trail Ramblings: Now Back To Our Regularly Scheduled February.
It’s not so bad, really. As is normal, highs should be in the 40’s, with lows in the 20’s this week. How quickly we forget once we’ve had a few warm, sunny days. Trails did melt and dry off for the most part this past week. Even the Mopac and Murdock were passable, with just the usual places boggy and in need of a go-around. By that I mean the two places between 176th and […]

Trail Ramblings: After The Last Month, We Deserve This Week.

Trail Ramblings: Riding In Conditions Like These Just Makes You Stronger.
Kudos to all riding through these challenging last few weeks. By the tracks I see, there are quite a few of you. I hope you’re all keeping the rubber side down. Riding on this ice has been great for sharpening our bike handling skills. We’ve had freezing rain followed by snow the consistency of mashed potatoes, then wind which helped to make it nice and tough. The rain and melting snow caused a large back-up […]

Trail Ramblings: Is it just me?
Are some motorists getting ruder towards cyclists or is it just something I’m noticing more? As more people commute or ride for sport some motorists seem to be increasingly less willing to share the road. I have noticed a steady increase in offensive behavior by motorists in the past year. And not for anything I’ve done wrong, usually. There’s been gratuitous honking, yelling and a seeming lack of familiarity with the rules of the road […]
